| Valara
is the divine goddess of earth. She is associated with both
the flora and fauna of the lands. As it’s said she
rests in the north, she is associated with this corner of
the world. Those that speak her name in praise generally
will raise their voices and motion towards the northern
skies of the lands.
She is the patron goddess of farmers, miners,
herbalists, and the downtrodden.
She is celebrated in the fall months during
the Harvest of Maples. During this celebration the people
of the world give thanks for her blessings of health and
prosperity throughout the year. To show their gratitude,
numerous festivals are held across the lands to celebrate
the fall harvest and to prepare for her reawakening in spring.
The citizens become fearful during the fall
season as it’s said this is the time when Valara prepares
to go in to a deep slumber. Their fear rests in the thought
that she will not awaken in the spring. In an attempt to
prevent this, they hang ghostly reminders of what may happen
to the world should she not awaken from her slumber. They
do this in hopes that she will see these reminders and remember
the people. These celebrations are to not only honor her,
but to ensure she is pleased with them so in the spring
she will allow the plants to grow.
It’s been said that Valara will hide
grain and other food items and treats around the world during
this time so that people may still find food should they
run out in the winter months.
Compassion, nurturing, and prosperity are
also associated with this goddess since many people pray
to her for increased health and harmony in their lives.
Valara is best known for her clemency and for her devotion
to her faithful. |
